According to Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report, he was not an aggressive scorer, but appeared to be “useful enough on the ball with his ability to shoot off the dribble and make good decisions as a passer.”

As one of 78 players invited to the combine, James participated in multiple scrimmages as well as measurements and athletic testing.

He reached 40.5″ on the vertical jump, one of the top three scores at the combine, and went 19-for-25 in the three-point star drill, according to Krysten Peek of Yahoo Sports.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, James is expected to remain in the 2024 NBA Draft rather than returning to the NCAA, where he entered the transfer portal following his freshman season at USC.

On April 30, Charania, Jovan Buha, and Sam Amick of The Athletic reported that Los Angeles is “open to the prospect” of drafting James.

Pelinka and the Lakers have pick No. 55 in the second round, as well as the 17th pick in round one, depending on whether the New Orleans Pelicans choose to take it or defer it.
