Following the dismissal of head coach Frank Vogel, Kendrick Perkins made audacious statements against Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns.

After the Suns lost a series sweep to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs, they parted ways with the 2020 championship-winning head coach after just one season in charge.

Amidst the head coach dismissal frenzy of the previous season, Perkins vented about players who haven’t demonstrated enough accountability. Adrian Griffin, Darvin Ham, and Vogel most recently were among them.

Durant had not spoken to Vogel in the last three months, according to the former player turned ESPN analyst, who made this assertion when talking about Vogel’s exit on Sports Center.

Dealing with so many of these soft cupcake players who don’t take responsibility is wearing me out. We’ve seen Adrian Griffin sacked over the last season.

Darvin Ham was let go. And after just one season, Frank Vogel is let go.”All because Kevin Durant, a two-time NBA champion and MVP of the Finals, hadn’t been talking to him or paying attention to Frank Vogel for the previous three months.”

Frank Vogel didn’t deserve to be fired in this particular scenario, according to Kendrick Perkins, because the Suns weren’t constructed correctly. He made the argument that the Suns were refusing to give up on Kevin Durant in the midst of the power battle, forcing them to pick between Vogel and him.

Perkins also attributed all of the Suns’ issues, including those that would persist under their next coach, to the team’s top-heavy roster design.

During Kevin Durant’s time with the Warriors, four coaches have been sacked.Kevin Durant could have passed his prime. The two-time NBA Finals MVP hasn’t achieved success at the highest level since leaving the Golden State Warriors.

Three coaches have now been fired as a result of Durant and his teams’ failures. While coaching a Durant team, Kenny Atkinson was also sacked, albeit the latter was not playing at the time.

But Durant was coached by Steve Nash of the Nets in 2022, Monty Williams of the Lakers in 2023, and Frank Vogel of the Lakers in 2024 for a considerable amount of time, including the postseason. Following Durant’s stated discontent with Nash, Nash’s stint came to an end.

In 2021, Durant and the Nets triumphed in a postseason series led by the former NBA MVP. They were defeated in seven games by the Milwaukee Bucks, who ended up winning the conference that year.

Jaque Vaughn took over as Durant’s coach, and the team had great success during the regular season. However, Durant decided to leave Brooklyn and join Phoenix at the 2023 trade deadline as a result of Kyrie Irving’s decision to join the Dallas Mavericks.

Monty Williams was Durant’s coach for eight games during the regular season and eleven during the postseason. Williams lost his job following the Suns’ loss in the second round.

The next coach of Kevin Durant in Phoenix will be his fourth active coach and his sixth official coach. Mike Budenholzer, a former coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, is apparently vying for the position.
