Joel Embiid goes viral for Hora dance at wedding

Over the weekend, Joel Embiid had the time of his life dancing the Hora at a wedding in Napa.

On Sunday, the Sixers star gained a lot of attention on Twitter as a result of now-viral footage that featured him grinning broadly while participating in a dancing circle. The 7-footer, who was recorded leaping up and down with wedding guests, was easy to overlook.

Embiid was lifted up onto a chair during the celebration, and a woman was placed on his lap. In further widely shared footage, the five-time NBA All-Star can be seen chuckling while the woman appears to be hanging on for dear life.

In order to commemorate his close buddy Michael Ratner’s marriage, who is a filmmaker and previously collaborated with the Sixers star on a documentary about his journey from Cameroon to Kansas, Embiid traveled to Napa, California.
Ratner wed Lauren Rothberg, the head of brand of the recently launched Rhode Skin by Hailey Bieber. The viral videos of Embiid at their wedding were posted to the newlyweds’ Instagram stories.

When it came to his offseason practices, Embiid, 28, seemed far healthier. The season concluded with a lot of injuries, including a concussion and a facial fracture. Last February, he also had to battle with a back issue.

While performing on stage with Meek Mill earlier this month, Embiid was seen having fun with teammates James Harden and PJ Tucker.
After spending one season with the Miami Heat, Tucker committed to a three-year, $33.2 million fully guaranteed contract with the Sixers. The announcement was made on July 6.

Harden, however, accepted a 15 million salary reduction prior to the 2022–2023 season. The point guard declined his player option worth $47 million so that Philadelphia may have more salary room and “compete for a championship.” His new deal is still pending.

In August of last year, Embiid consented to an extension of his supermax contract, which will keep him in Philadelphia through the 2026–2027 campaign. His contract calls for him to make $196 million in four years, with a player option in the last year.
