In his debut NBA season as a 20-year-old, Victor Wembanyama lived up to the hype, if not beyond it. His final statistics per game were a very impressive 21.4/10.6/3.9/1.2/3.6.
Wemby can still certainly work on a number of minor issues, such as his three-point shooting percentage, but he made great progress all season long.
Kevin Durant made a small move to sway Wemby.
Wembanyama instantly thought of Kevin Durant when asked by Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer which move he would steal from another player.
According to Wemby, Durant has a certain hesitation move that causes opponents to hesitate and gives him the opportunity to get space or blow by them.
Wembanyama added that one of his “basketball role models” as a child was Durant. Giannis Antetokounmpo was, predictably, the other name he mentioned.
Several fans made comments in the replies about what an absurd player Wembanyama would become if he were to acquire some of Durant’s offensive prowess. His ceiling is very much higher than the sky.
