During the Timberwolves vs. Suns game, there was a memorable intergenerational moment when Anthony Edwards began to study and criticize his childhood hero, Kevin Durant.
Following a 120-95 victory that gave the Wolves a 1-0 series lead, Edwards described his on-court encounter with KD as “probably one of the best feelings ever in my whole life, for sure.”
When Ant outscored KD 18–10 in the third quarter, the video of him chirping at Durant went viral.
Postgame, Durant was questioned about the exchange.
“It’s just basketball. Not even playoffs, it’s just hoop,” Durant said. “You get hot, you make shots, make tough shots, you’re gonna feel excited about yourself. It’s on me to keep coming back and showing him a tough look.”
KD added, “He got it going. He made some tough ones. You just got to live with it and be better next game.”
Durant, 35, concluded the game with 31 points and seven rebounds, while 22-year-old Edwards finished with 33 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
Edwards, meanwhile, isn’t putting too much stock in it yet.
“Beating these guys is going to be difficult,” Edwards remarked. It’s only a single game. The next time we play them, they will be prepared.
Even though Durant scored well, his running partner Devin Booker didn’t have much of an impact when he was on the court, scoring just 18 points.
According to Durant, Booker will “have a great Game 2.”
Booker acknowledged that Saturday’s events didn’t go as planned.
Booker stated, “We all just need to get used to the playoff physicality.”
“They’re being really rough with me, and I was sent to the bench after receiving three early fouls. From there, it was just a matter of finding a rhythm.”
If Phoenix hopes to even the series, Booker will undoubtedly have to step up against a hot Minnesota team.
