Ahead of the Suns’ game against the Timberwolves last weekend in Minneapolis, two current Suns greats received a unique gift from a previous great.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and remember to subscribe!Kevin Durant and Devin Booker received their new Team USA jerseys for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, along with confirmation that they made the final roster, from Grant Hill, who is currently the managing director of the USA Basketball men’s national team.

“We were clueless,” Booker remarked. “Grant Hill is in the room, and the jerseys are there when we walk in.”

The likes of Steph Curry, LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Haliburton, Anthony Edwards, Jrue Holiday, Bam Adebayo, Anthony Davis, and Kawhi Leonard will be joined by Booker, a one-time Olympic gold medalist, and Durant, a three-time Olympic gold medalist.

Booker declared, “I’m excited about the experience.” “The roster is now available. It has a star-studded cast of legendary players who were not included in the previous edition. Going directly from the 2021 Finals to merely playing (in Tokyo) didn’t give me the complete experience. We will enjoy spending time with our families as we take it all in.

With the playoffs less than a week away and Booker and Durant facing Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves in Round 1, the news comes at a time when they can only concentrate on making a deep playoff run before the Olympics.

“Tipoff for the basketball group stage at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games is set for Saturday, July 27 and will conclude on Sunday, August 4,” nbcolympics.com reports.

The men’s gold medal match is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, and the elimination stage starts on Tuesday, August 6.

Durant and Booker made a commitment to participate for Team USA during the Suns’ October media day. On February 29, they were listed as part of the “expected core” roster.

After winning the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, this will be the pair’s second consecutive Olympics.

Booker stated, “I was there for a short while, (but I learned) just win at all costs.” “After losing that opening match against France and in the (group stage), that’s what it came down to.” We simply gelled as a team very quickly, and we prevailed.

Booker stated that prior to Durant’s 2021 gold medal run, he and Durant were romantically involved.

To be honest, it was laid earlier. Booker stated, “Even when I was on the (USA) Select team, we were building a bond over time. “That widely shared video of us all playing one-on-one.” I believe that KD approached me first and inquired, 

“Did he want to play?” I gave it my all. When we first started playing together, I would constantly check to see what he had to say about myself after the game, and it was always nice. He’d often tell me he enjoyed my spirit of competition. What kept me going was receiving the confirmation from one of the G.O.A.T.s. It’s the same thing to be teammates now. Iron sharpens iron, as I often say.”

Bradley Beal was pleased to see his fellow athletes make the final roster. Before he was unable to compete due to contracting COVID, Beal was expected to be on the Tokyo Olympic team.

Beal remarked, “I love it, and I’m happy for them.” “I feel envious. Though their team is incredible, I wish I was a member of it. There are so many gifted guys on the squad, including my brother Jayson Tatum. I’m overjoyed for each and every one of those guys. I send them my finest wishes and well-being. Return the gold. That is all that is important.

With possibly the poorest lineup this decade, Team USA placed fourth in the FIBA World Cup last summer (see below). With one of their strongest teams ever, they now aim to bounce back from this and contend this summer.
