The Phoenix Suns have just two games remaining on their regular season schedule, so it’s almost time for hypothetical awards and distinctions before the postseason begins.
When it comes to subjects like “most improved player,” there are several players that meet the bill.
According to Bleacher Report, no one in the desert has improved their game more than Grayson Allen.
“Over the previous four seasons, Grayson Allen was an almost average floor spacer, averaging 10.4 points, 2.1 threes, and 1.9 assists while shooting 40.1 percent from deep. Andy Bailey stated, “In 2023-24, he set career highs in points per game (13.5), assists per game (3.1), threes per game (2.8), and three-point percentage (46.6).”
“And that final figure isn’t just a personal best for Allen. It also leads the league this season. Allen is no longer merely a strong catch-and-shoot threat; he’s now one of the most dangerous in the NBA in that regard, while also displaying a little more off-the-dribble talent than he has at prior stops.”
Allen is undoubtedly a major possibility, but there are a few more names who could contend.
Had Bol Bol received regular minutes throughout the season, he would have been a strong contender for Phoenix’s most improved player.
Bol went from being a project in prior stops, to a meme at the team’s media day, to a player who truly brought a little of everything to Frank Vogel’s table. Bol has certainly made progress throughout his brief stay in the desert.
The same could be said of Jusuf Nurkic, who has always put up numbers in Portland but is embracing (and prospering) in a new role surrounded by three All-Stars in the starting lineup. Nurkic has established himself as one of the NBA’s finest rebounders, while also demonstrating his ability to facilitate and pass every night.
However, Allen is still likely to win the most improved title, as he has turned into one of the league’s top three-point shooters and has saved the Suns on numerous occasions.
