Basketball and music have a long history together. Several basketball legends, including Shaquille O’Neal and Damian Lillard, as well as the late, great Kobe Bryant, attempted to break into the music industry.
0000Musicians and celebrities have a passion for basketball, and rappers such as J Cole have even played professionally. Kevin Durant was recently asked to create a starting lineup consisting solely of entertainers, and he came up with an impressive selection.
During a recent visit on Aux Money, Chase B asked Durant who rappers/musicians he considered to be the greatest starting five of all time. Notably, the Suns’ star seems more adamant about who he would not name on his list than who he would. KD was spoiled for choice, but he had some of the most well-known artists who are also outstanding hoopers.
His first pick was the renowned Master P, who not only participated in an NBA game but was also one of the best at his specialty. Even though it was a preseason game, it counts in KD’s stats.
Next, he chose Chris Brown because Breezy is highly athletic, and what we see in his music videos and stage performances translates very well on the basketball floor. KD’s third pick in the lineup was Brooklyn rapper Rowdy Rebel, whom he considers an underrated hooper.
Then he chose a 6’6 Dave East based on his basketball experience.
KD’s final choice was Jermaine Cole, primarily because the Young Simba had professional experience in Rwanda and Canada. Durant left out 25-year-old Sheck Wes, and he had strong reasons for doing so.
Kevin Durant ignored Sheck Wes because he disrespected the game.Wes is a Harlem-born rapper best known for his song ‘Mo Bamba’ and his work with Travis Scott’s music company, Cactus Jack. During a conversation with Chase B on Aux Money two months ago, he made a bold claim about NB players.
Chase B asked Sheck: “Who in the NBA do you think you could give 30?” Wes went on to say, “Garett Temple, Ish Smith, Oshae Brissett, you want us to keep going?”
Despite admitting that these guys are amazing and that he meant no disrespect, Wes stated that he would easily drop 30 on them.
As a result, KD excluded him from his rappers’ starting lineup, saying, “No, I’m not taking Sheck, especially for how he disrespected the game.”
