Superstar and current player Kevin Durant treasured his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, viewing it as the pinnacle of his career to date.
Let’s just say that Kevin Durant’s NBA career has been rather colorful. The superstar, who is currently with the Phoenix Suns, may have had his best seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Speaking warmly about his time in Oklahoma, Durant told Clemente Almanza that they were his favorite seasons.
“The OKC era must be considered, as it served as the starting point for everything.” That serves as the basis for everything,” Durant remarked.
“We were playing against dynasties and we were young.” Kobe Bryant and I were playing against the [Los Angeles] Lakers when they won it back-to-back. Dallas [Mavericks] upon winning the NBA title. That was the beginning when LeBron James and D-Wade (Dwyane Wade) joined Miami [Heat.”
We were all 22, 23, and I believe that James Harden, myself, and Russell Westbrook arrived early. I think the nicest part was definitely getting tossed into the fire like that.”
Durant also attributes his fondness for his OKC years to the team’s relative young, which at the time made it extremely popular among supporters who were still in their early childhood during the team’s reconstruction.
As I grew older, I noticed that males in their 30s would say things like, “Man, we watched you do that when you were 20,” or “Man, we watched you guys when I was a kid.” It’s absurd,” remarked the forward. “A lot of young people gravitate towards that team because we was all young, so we was their team coming up.”
Each of us arrived in a successive year. Durant discussed the team’s reconstruction. “It was me, Russ, then James and Serge [Ibaka], and then we just kept building from there.” “I think I had the most fun in the league during that portion. “That was the first time I had ever experienced anything with that [team], but everything else was definitely cool,” he remarked.
The superstar at last discussed how his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder has aided in his mental growth throughout the years.
“I just think that experience of winning and losing, having different teammates, coaches, that just gave me more experience and more knowledge about the league, the business, the game itself…” said Durant.
I’ve been doing this for seventeen years. That’s nine years of my profession filled with a lot of experiences. annual participation in the finals and victory… I was seeing NBAs and All-Star games,” he said in closing.
Durant was voted the NBA’s regular season MVP in 2014 and won two NBA championships with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2017 and 2018. He was also named the Finals MVP in both of those seasons.
During his tenure with the OKC, Durant was also frequently named to the First Team and All-Star teams. For four seasons, he was also the league’s leading scorer.
