Family Pride Forces Klay Thompson To Take Wild Dig At Stephen Curry & Seth Curry

The long-running podcast hosted by Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green recently welcomed a much-anticipated guest. He surprised everyone by sitting across from Green during a heated debate on a variety of subjects with his colleague and five-time NBA All-Star Klay Thompson.

Green brought up Thompson’s family’s reputation as athletes during the same, pointing out that his father was a well-known NBA player in his day. In response, “Game 6 Klay” said that he and his father could compete with some of the other contemporary basketball family duos if they were gathered together while they were at their best.

“We were able to perform the Holiday Brothers…I think we could beat them up a little bit with my dad on the block,” Thompson remarked. “There are a lot of outstanding NBA players; the Lopez twins and the Griffin brothers would be tough too.” The 34-year-old Green noted that one well-known brother duo—Stephen and Seth Curry—was absent from his list when he was making it. But judging by Thompson’s witty response, it would have been done on purpose.

Curry, they’re too little, Thompson remarked in jest, to which Green roared with laughter. “Insufficient.”
Alongside the greats Magic Johnson and James Worthy, Mychal Thompson, the father of Jay, was a player for the Lakers and helped his team win two championships. Mychel, his brother, spent one season with the Cleveland Cavaliers before moving on to the D-League, where he was the 2015 champion.

Being proud of your own family’s accomplishments is one thing, but disparaging the Curry Brothers’ and their father’s talents as a practical joke is quite another. Though Thompson may have said it in jest, it’s crucial to remember that the Curry trio is by no means “too little.”
From the mid-1980s to the late 1990s, Dell Curry, a former player for the Charlotte Hornets, was a well-known figure in the NBA community. Following his retirement from the game, his two sons, Stephen and Seth, assumed the mantle of carrying the name.

Seth has improved significantly as an offensive player and a well-known shooter even though he may not have any NBA championships to his name. The younger brother made a name for himself in his first ten seasons by never shooting fewer than 40% in a regular season from three points outside the arc. Between 2019 to 2022, he played in three seasons and averaged 13.3 points per game. There have been drawbacks to being compared to Steph, but there have also been advantages.
