What causes Steph Curry to gnaw on his mouthguard?

Curry's habit is an unusual one
Curry has spent his whole professional career using a mouthguard. If he didn’t chew it all the time, this wouldn’t be too strange.

And by holding it in one side of his mouth, he makes it very clear that he is chewing it.Following an altercation on the court in 2007, he began wearing one and hasn’t taken it off.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel in 2015, he discussed the mouthguard’s beginnings and said, “My lip got kind of busted open when I got elbowed in college during my junior year.” I started using a mouthpiece for every game after that.
