Ayesha Curry announced on Friday that she and Golden State Warriors player Stephen Curry are expecting another addition to their family.
The cookbook author, TV personality, and businesswoman poses for a picture shoot for Sweet July, the wellness and lifestyle firm she started. In a post on the firm’s Instagram account, Ayesha Curry is featured holding her baby bump on the cover of the digital issue of the Sweet July magazine, with the description, “Grace, gratitude, and gut instincts: Ayesha’s fourth act.”The piece introduces “The Village Issue” and describes it as “an appropriate theme for Founder Ayesha Curry who excitedly announces her growing family.”
Ayesha, 34, and Steph, 35, married in 2011 and have three children: daughters Riley, 11, and Ryan, 8, and boy Canon, five. In the magazine story, Ayesha stated that she and Steph had felt they were done having children for years.
“For many years, Stephen and I thought we were done. We said, “Three, that’s it; we’re not doing it again.” And then last year, we looked at each other and decided we wanted to do it again. For me, the choice sprang from the fact that I was constantly looking around and felt as if someone was missing. I’d pack the car and realize, “Oh, I forgot something.” However, no one was forgotten. It began to turn my brain a little. Perhaps somebody was missing. So we embarked on this trip, believing that it would complete our family.
Curry also told the magazine that she is grateful for the opportunity to see what she refers to as her final pregnancy through the eyes of her children. She also mentioned that now that she’s in her 30s, the paperwork she receives regarding doctor’s appointments refers to a “geriatric pregnancy.”
“I believe there is room for more nuanced discussions about women, their ages, and having children. Many women in their 30s and 40s are experiencing this for the first time, and being told you’re “old” is frightening and surreal. I believe the story needs to be changed slightly.”
“The Currys’ compassion and concern for children extends to the Oakland community, where the Warriors used to play before relocating to the Chase Center arena in San Francisco. The couple’s “Eat. Learn. Play.” organization hopes to gather $50 million over the next three years to help students in the Oakland Unified School District.
The funds will go toward providing food, safe play areas, and access to books for all children, particularly those from low-income families.
