The announcement comes few months after the parents of three marked their 12th wedding anniversary.
Stephen and Ayesha Curry are adding another curry to the pot! On Friday, the multi-hyphenate entrepreneur announced her fourth child with her NBA superstar husband in the most iconic way possible: by starring on the cover of Sweet July Magazine’s first digital issue, a publication born from her blossoming skincare line, Sweet July Skin, with a stunning belly-baring shot.
Ayesha and Stephanie have been married since 2011. The couple, who were high school sweethearts, have three children: Riley, 11, Ryan, 8, and Cannon, 5.
In an interview for Sweet July Magazine’s “Village Issue,” the cookbook author confesses that, while she and Steph “thought we were done” after receiving their third kid, they decided they wanted a fourth “last year.”
“For me, the choice sprang from constantly glancing around and feeling as if someone was missing. I’d pack the car and realize, ‘Oh, I forgot stuff.’ “But no one was forgotten,” Ayesha writes. “It began to turn my brain a little. Perhaps someone was missing. So we embarked on this trip, confident that it would complete our family.
Ayesha explains that her fourth pregnancy is significantly different from her previous three, stating that juggling her elder children, multiple endeavors, and the demands of managing five daily lives made her realize how she was “tremendously busy in ways I wasn’t before.”
“I’m also realizing how quickly time has passed with our first three children, who are now self-sufficient and don’t require as much from us,” she says, adding that her youngest has a genuine interest in her pregnancy. “Seeing things through his eyes, as well as Ryan and Riley’s, has been really fascinating. They are at such diverse ages and phases in life. Their opinions are so varied, and that’s been the most exciting part.”
Ayesha discusses some of the small distinctions she has seen throughout what she claims would be her “last pregnancy.” She believes realizing that “this really does pass by in the blink of an eye” has inspired her to “slow down and take in every single little thing.”
“But one of the most significant distinctions is a fresh realization that time truly flies. And in the blink of an eye, it may all be gone. That has inspired me to slow down and appreciate every little thing, especially since this is my final pregnancy,” she adds.
Regardless of the twists and turns she faces during her pregnancy, Ayesha says she has come to rely on her tribe more than ever before. “I was really stubborn with my previous pregnancies. That wounded me in the end. It made things pretty difficult for me, she admits. “I had to learn to put my pride aside and realize it was okay to take help, to have people around me help and to not shy away from.”
“Part of my village, in the more abstract sense, is my spirituality; my relationship to God; my relationship with myself,” she said. “I’ve made an intentional effort to be more positive with all of my children… I am also highly careful of how I speak to and perceive myself. Gratitude has been prevalent… I’ve made it a point not to be hard on myself. “This time, I’m giving myself grace.”
