Kevin Durant showcased his brilliance once again on Saturday evening, despite the Phoenix Suns’ 117-107 loss to the Boston Celtics at home.
The 2014 MVP delivered an outstanding performance, tallying 45 points, ten rebounds, six assists, and one steal while shooting an impressive 18-of-26 from the field and 4-of-7 from three-point range in 37 minutes of action.
In addition to his stellar performance, Durant achieved a significant milestone by surpassing Hall of Famer Jason Kidd for 16th place on the NBA’s all-time three-pointers list. With this accomplishment, Durant now sets his sights on his teammate Eric Gordon, who currently occupies the next spot on the list with 2,003 career three-pointers.
The NBA recognized Durant’s achievement, tweeting, “Congrats to @KDTrey5 of the @Suns for moving to 16th all-time in 3-pointers made!”
Despite Durant’s historic performance, the Suns couldn’t secure the win, dropping to a 37-27 record in 64 games, positioning them as the sixth seed in the competitive Western Conference. Their next matchup will be against Darius Garland and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday evening in Ohio.
Meanwhile, the Celtics reclaimed their position as the top seed in the Eastern Conference and the NBA with an impressive 49-14 record in 63 games. They snapped a two-game losing streak and will look to continue their winning ways when they face the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday evening in Oregon.
