Kevin Durant’s Nike KD 17 Sneaker Unveiled Ahead of Schedule
Phoenix Suns’ superstar Kevin Durant is known for debuting his signature sneakers late in the NBA season, but fans were treated to an early glimpse of his latest edition, the Nike KD 17.
Sneaker News shared an image of the upcoming Nike KD 17 on social media, unveiling a striking Oklahoma City Thunder-themed colorway. This nod to Durant’s beginnings with the franchise, following the relocation of the Seattle SuperSonics, adds a nostalgic touch to the design.
The Nike KD 17 boasts a refreshed design inspired by iconic footwear models from the 1990s. Notably, the exterior cage draws inspiration from the Air Max Plus, with its unique lava lamp-inspired aesthetic. Additionally, the midsole design exhibits similarities to the Air Talaria running shoe, offering a blend of vintage nostalgia and contemporary innovation.
Traditionally, Durant unveils his new sneakers during the NBA playoffs, and fans can expect the official debut of the Nike KD 17 in April 2024, according to reports.
Durant’s significance in the world of sports extends beyond his on-court prowess. Last year, he made history by becoming the third basketball player ever to sign a lifetime deal with Nike, joining the esteemed ranks of Michael Jordan and LeBron James. With Tiger Woods recently ending his long-standing partnership with Nike, Durant and Cristiano Ronaldo stand as the only non-NBA players to maintain lifetime contracts with the renowned sportswear brand.
Even in his 16th season, Durant continues to showcase his exceptional skills on the court. Averaging impressive statistics of 28.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game, Durant remains a pivotal force for the Suns, who currently hold the fifth position in the competitive Western Conference with a 34-24 record.
