During his media day session at the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana, Kevin Durant shed light on his unexpected role as A&R on Drake’s For All the Dogs album.
Durant, the star player for the Phoenix Suns, casually disclosed to journalists that his relationship with Drake often involves conversations about life, during which he offers advice. This informal counseling seemed to resonate with Drake, who subsequently bestowed upon Durant the A&R title for his FAtD project.
“Whenever Drake just wants to talk about life I’m there for him, and he just gave me that title,” Durant explained in a laid-back manner.
While discussing his involvement in the music realm, Durant addressed speculation about his own rap aspirations. When asked about the possibility of releasing a rap album, Durant dismissed the idea, emphasizing that his involvement in music is purely for enjoyment and not indicative of any imminent album release.
“I doubt I have an album dropping, I just do it for fun,” Durant clarified with a laugh.
He referred to his recent rap feature on Stalley’s single “Scared Money” as an example of his involvement in music as a hobby. Despite receiving praise from fans for his rap skills on the song, Durant indicated that he currently views rapping as a leisure activity rather than a serious pursuit.
As for Durant’s future in music, he remains focused on his basketball career and sees his involvement in the music industry as a side interest for the time being.
