On the night when the late great Kobe Bryant is memorialized with a statue among the other, already-immortalized Los Angeles Lakers legends, the Lakers will be wearing a special uniform to honor him and his late daughter Gigi Bryant.
The Black Mamba uniform debuted in 2018 as the first City Edition uniform. They wore them again in 2020 when the Lakers ran through the NBA playoffs.
They feature a black snakeskin-like print and drop shadows on the numbers which is a nod to the uniforms Bryant wore his rookie season. They also feature “LA 24” on the belt and Nos. 8 and 24 under the flap of each leg. This version also has a heart with No. 2 representing Gigi.
Bryant will be the seventh Laker to be commemorated with a statue joining Elgin Baylor, Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Jerry West, and Chick Hearn.
Fans won’t be able to see the statue in person until Friday at 10 a.m.
