Charlotte’s losing run has already reached eight games, despite the efforts of the Hornets, which included a remarkable performance from Miles Bridges, who scored 41 points, and Brandon Miller, who scored 33 points. Bryce McGowen came off the bench and provided 10 points, while P.J. Washington supplied 15 points to the team’s total.

Due to Miller’s nine-point surge, Charlotte made a late push in the final minutes of the game, bringing the score closer to 117-113 with two minutes remaining before the end of the game. Nevertheless, James responded with a vital three-point shot, and despite Bridges following suit with a three-point play of his own, the Lakers were able to maintain their lead. Bridges’ effort to score three points was blocked by Anthony Davis, which proved to be a crucial block, as Austin Reaves scored two free throws to ensure the victory.

In an effort to address the issues they were seeing defensively and to experiment with different lineup combinations, the Hornets decided to give rookie guard Leaky Black his first start in the NBA. In spite of the fact that the Lakers had trouble shooting from beyond the arc (8-for-34 on 3-point tries), they were able to dominate offensively, shooting 56.2 percent from the field.

From the very beginning of the game, the Lakers demonstrated their offensive power by making 14 of their first 22 shots from two-point range. As a result of outscoring the Hornets 37-29 in each of the first two quarters, they were able to construct a comfortable lead of 74-58 at the halftime break. The victory strengthens the momentum that the Lakers have acquired as they move into the subsequent phase of the season.
