Kevin Durant Makes NBA History with 4,500 Career Assists in Return to Brooklyn
In a historic return to Brooklyn, Kevin Durant not only showcased his scoring prowess but also etched his name in NBA history by becoming the 90th player to reach 4,500 career assists. Additionally, Durant moved up to the 18th spot on the NBA’s all-time field goals made list. The Phoenix Suns secured a victory over the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on Wednesday evening.
Durant, the 2014 MVP, made his first return to Brooklyn after spending nearly four years with the franchise. In a game filled with milestones, Durant entered the matchup with 4,495 assists, needing only five to reach the coveted 4,500 mark.
Currently enjoying an outstanding season, Durant is averaging 28.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.2 blocks per contest while shooting at an impressive 53.1% from the field and 45.2% from beyond the three-point arc in 40 games.
The Suns, currently holding the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 27-20 record, demonstrated their form with an 8-2 record over their last ten games. In their most recent victory against the Miami Heat, Durant contributed 20 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, one steal, and two blocks in 42 minutes of play.
Following their triumph over the Nets, the Suns are set to face the Atlanta Hawks and Trae Young at State Farm Arena on Friday.
