Trae Young scored 26 points and made all six of his 3-point shots. The Atlanta Hawks beаt LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers 138–122 on Tuesday, giving them their second double-digit loss in as many nights.
The Hawks took over when they made three straight baskets to start the second half. This gave them a 17-point lead and made the Lakers call a quick timeout.
It wasn’t helpful. The Hawks made it 20 points, and the Lakers never got closer than 10 points the rest of the way. This was a game between two teams that are rumored to be in trade talks before next week’s trade deadline.
After a 135-119 loss at Houston on Monday, the Lakers played without Anthony Davis and fell back below.500 at 24-25. Austin Reaves scored 28 points and James added 20, but it wasn’t a great game in front of a packed house.
Dejounte Murray scored 24 points for the Hawks and made three straight mid-range shots in the middle of the fourth quarter to stop any Lakers hopes of coming back.
The Hawks guard has been talked about as someone who could be moved since his team is seven games below.500 even though it has won two straight games.
The Hawks’ Jalen Johnson scored 19 points, and Bogdan Bogdanovic and Saddiq Bey each scored 18. Atlanta Һit 16 of 38 shots from beyond the hoop and 52% from the floor. Seven players scored in double figures.
It was Davis’s third missed game of the season. The Lakers said he had problems with his left hip and Achilles tendon. Someone else, Jaxson Hayes, took his place and scored six points and grabbed six boards.
The play of Davis, who scores 24.9 points and grabs 12.1 rebounds per game, was very different.
There were also rumors that James, who is 39 years old, might play on back-to-back nights. He did his warm-ups, though, and was in the starting position.
Hunter, a forward for the Hawks, played for the first time since December 20. He came off the bench and scored six points in 16 minutes. He missed 19 games because of swelling in his right knee.
