As per reports, the renowned basketball player LeBron James is gearing up to participate in the Paris Summer Games of 2024. Having bagged two Olympic gold medals in Beijing (2008) and London (2012), besides a bronze at Athens in 2004, James has been an integral part of Team USA’s success. However, he was absent from the Rio de Janeiro (2016) and Tokyo (2021) games, both of which saw his team clinching the top spot. The Athletic has cited that James has already contacted multiple star players including Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum, and Draymond Green, to join him at the French capital next summer.
According to reports, LeBron James seems to be prepared to join the USA national basketball team for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games in 2024.
In 2008 and 2012, James, 38, captained the US basketball team to victory at the Olympics in Beijing and London. Despite their disappointing fourth-place finish at the recent FIBA World Cup, the US is expected to field a formidable team. Grant Hill, the managing director of USA Basketball, has acknowledged James’ expressed interest in playing for the team. Recently, Mikal Bridges pulled off a stunning overtime move, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the US from returning home empty-handed. In a significant upset, Canada won a medal on the global stage after an 87-year wait, beating the US 127-118 in the third-place game in Manila on Sunday.
According to reports, James has been reaching out to NBA stars in an effort to recruit them to join his team, including Kevin Durant. Unfortunately, the US basketball team failed to medal at the World Cup for the second time in a row, which is only the seventh time in 38 appearances at the Olympic or World Cup level that they didn’t win gold, silver, or bronze medals. Steve Kerr, the coach of the US team, admits that winning in FIBA can be challenging due to the high caliber of teams with excellent coaching and long-standing chemistry. Despite being considered favorites in the tournament, the Americans lost three of their last four games.
