The Los Angeles Lakers forward passed NBA icon Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most all-time honors when he was selected for his 20th NBA All-Star Game on Thursday. James surpassed Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring mark less than a year ago.
James, 39, is joined in the starting lineup for the Western Conference by forward Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns, guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder, center Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, and guard Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks.
Currently in his 21st year in the league, James’s averages per game this season are 24.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 7.4 assists.
James accomplished another noteworthy first earlier in the season when he became the first player in NBA history to record 39,000 career points.
Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, guard Damian Lillard of the Bucks, center Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, forward Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, and guard Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers make up the starting lineup for the Eastern Conference.
The NBA All-Star Game will take place in Indianapolis’ Gainbridge Fieldhouse on February 18.
