Despite the fact that Bradley Beal is beginning to show signs of improvement, the Phoenix Suns continue to be an inconsistent team that does not perform at its best.
When the Suns play home to the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night, Beal will be looking to put together his third consecutive good offensive effort.
Over the course of the last two games, Beal has scored an average of 30 points while making 12 of 16 shots from beyond the arc. Over the course of that time period, he has made 23 of 34 shots from the field, which is 67.6 percent, and Phoenix has won both of those games.
During Thursday’s 127-109 blowout of the Los Angeles Lakers, he set new season highs with 37 points and eight three-pointers. The game was played against the hometown team. Beal then went on to score 23 points and make four more three-pointers in the team’s triumph over the Portland Trail Blazers on the road, which they won 127-116.
But despite the triumph in Portland, Beal was not pleased with the outcome.
The Trail Blazers were missing six key players due to injuries or illnesses, including Jerami Grant, the second-leading scorer, and Deandre Ayton, a former center for the Suns. However, Portland was able to cut Phoenix’s 17-point advantage to four with 6 minutes and fifty seconds remaining in the game.
Even though the Suns were able to make a run that proved to be pivotal, Beal was still left with a negative impression of the game.
“I believe that we took a step back, and I believe that we are all aware of that,” Beal stated after the event. “We did not come out with any enthusiasm, we were not focused, and we did not complete any of our defensive duties right away. We made it possible for them to get really comfortable, and they maintained that level of comfort throughout the entire game.
During the offseason, Beal was acquired from the Washington Wizards in order to complete the big three alongside Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Nevertheless, he has only participated in 15 of Phoenix’s 39 games due to the fact that he has been plagued by back and ankle problems.
Before their run of straight triumphs, the Suns had a losing record of 11–19 games.
Booker scored 34 points to lead the Suns in their game against Portland.
There have been four consecutive victories for Sacramento over Phoenix, including two victories this season.
On December 8, the Kings defeated the Suns by a score of 114-106 on the road. De’Aaron Fox contributed 34 points to the Kings’ victory. Due to injury, both Beal and Durant were unable to participate in that game.
Two weeks later, Sacramento defeated the Suns at home by a score of 120-105. Domantas Sabonis led the way with 28 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds, and he shot 12 of 15 from the field. Beal was once again relegated to the background.
For the Kings, the matchup on Tuesday will mark the conclusion of a road journey that included of five games.
Prior to suffering defeats of 112-93 at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday and 143-142 in overtime against the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday, Sacramento had won the first two games of the season.
The Kings were defeated by a significant margin on Sunday, when Damian Lillard of Milwaukee made a three-point shot at the final buzzer.
Sabonis recorded his tenth triple-double of the season with 21 points, 15 assists, and 13 rebounds, while Fox scored 32 points for Sacramento. Sabonis also provided 15 assists.
The two star players were not mentioned in any of the postgame conversation that took place.
After being dismissed from the game for running onto the court to dispute with 9:27 remaining in regulation, Kings coach Mike Brown showed up to his postgame news conference with a laptop in order to demonstrate missed calls by the officiating crew.
“The referees are human, and they’re going to make mistakes, but you just hope — A, there’s some sort of consistency (and) B, there’s some sort of communication between the refs,” Brown commented following the match. It was a pleasure to work with the referees on Sunday; they kept in touch with me throughout the night. However, in terms of consistency, you had the opportunity to observe it right here… According to my point of view, the consistency that I saw (on Sunday) was not present”.
up spite of the fact that he was out with an ankle injury for the Philadelphia game, Kevin Huerter turned up a solid performance for the Kings. Huerter not only scored 26 points but also collected a season-high 10 rebounds and finished with six three-pointers, which was a season record.
Keegan Murray, a forward for Sacramento, suffered a hip injury during the game against Milwaukee and is currently considered questionable for Tuesday’s game.
